As we close IDEA’s epic 40th anniversary year, let us pause for a few moments of nostalgia and enjoy the IDEA History Timeline.
Updated every 5 years on major anniversaries, this much-anticipated dip into IDEA history unfolds where we’ve been and hints at what is possible in years to come. A quick look at where we were just 5 years ago (let alone 40!) ignites a spark of inspiration for how much progress can be made over a short span.
So much has happened at IDEA and in the industry since our last refresh in 2017. In addition to IDEA being acquired three times, the COVID-19 pandemic upended the entire world and forever shifted how our industry does business. It’s somewhat mind-boggling that all of this happened over just the last 5 years, with most of the changes unfolding in just the last 36 months.
The tradition of this timeline helps us all to honor yesteryear, understand how far we’ve come as an association and as an industry, and to look forward with intent on how we will shape the future. The aspirational part of this exercise is the most exciting. If you were to plot a course for what the next 5 years of your career timeline might look like, what would be on it?
