Run Pacing and Gender

Gender does not alter run pacing strategy in world-record–breaking events at championship and meet races, according to a study of all-time running world records in 800-meter, 1500-meter and 1-mile distances. Interestingly, world records are more likely to be broken during championship events by women than by men.

The research is presented in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (2021; 18 [39], 12589).
